The Crystal Garden, our 20-bed secure unit, is designed to meet the special needs of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Designed by the President of the Nebraska Alzheimer?s Association, the floor plan (secure unit and outdoor courtyard) encourages and supports independence while promoting safety. Many behavioral symptoms that result from declining cognitive skills can be alleviated by modifying a resident?s surroundings. Soft lighting, reduced clutter, low noise levels and staff consistency, are just a few examples.
Crystal Garden staff is specifically trained in the care of persons with dementia and receives periodic training to remain abreast of new treatment options. Our nursing, dietary, social services and activity staff understand the specific needs of cognitively impaired residents and provide a personalized plan of care that protects each resident?s dignity, expression, comfort and safety.
