I am disabled with m.s. I have been since young(1991) Im 53 now and have gotten ssi since. We were seperated and I told s.security office I didnt know where he was. For a few years now Ive known where he is and found out we are still married. He is also a vet. Am I eligible for benefits from his social security? I was told I was but social security never told me.He is maybe 55 or 56 now.

Dear Teresa: As long as you are not living with him, SS will not count his income against you. You will be eligible for wifes benefits when you are 62. If he dies, you will be eligible now for disabled widows benefits. What you need is a good lawyer. Call legal assistance and tell them your story......Good Luck..Carol
