Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. (HIAC) is a private non-profit organization providing health and social services for the frail elderly, physically and/or mentally-challenged adults and patients with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. Opening our doors in 1976, we are the only agency of it's kind in East Hawaii, providing adult day care and other needed services. We continue successfully to make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve. Our Agency's purpose is to provide services to meet the needs of the elderly and disabled, thus giving them the opportunity to remain living in their own homes and maintaining their independence as long as possible, preventing premature institutionalization. HIAC's goals are to give dignity and to enhance the lives of our clients and to provide much needed respite for their caregivers.Hilo Adult Day Center offers a home-like, safe and supportive daytime environment for seniors and younger adults who are physically and/or mentally challenged and for persons with Alzheimer's disease. Located just below Rainbow Falls on Rainbow Drive in a quiet Banyan tree lane setting, this life-enhancing program serves as a cost-effective, community based alternative to nursing home care or premature institutionalization.
Hilo Adult Day Center's philosophy is based on a deep commitment to health and human care.
