Community Description

The goal of hospice care is to provide comfort care to our patients in their home, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. When this is not possible, RTA Hospice provides a home-like environment in the RTA Hospice Inpatient Unit (Hospice House).

RTA's Hospice House offers an inviting atmosphere to hospice patients and families. Seven private rooms are available and family members are invited to spend day and night with their loved one. A large family room, kitchen and patio make a comfortable place for families to gather. A grieving room and serenity garden provide space for privacy and comfort. The unit is staffed 24 hrs a day by Hospice trained RNs, aides and volunteers.

Stay in the unit is for short-term symptom control, crisis management, imminent death, respite, or in some cases, to allow time for other care-giving arrangements to be made. All decisions regarding eligibility are made jointly by the Interdisciplinary Team, the physician, and the family.
