Description:

Join us on a guided hike of the most popular trail at Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area, the Brook Walk. Learn about the history of the property and the nature you will encounter along the way! The Brook Walk follows Shannon Brook as it rambles through the woods and leads to viewpoints of seven spectacular waterfalls, with much of the trail following the route that led Ossipee Mountain Park visitors to these points more than a century ago. Signs along the trail provide descriptions of the waterfalls and include old images, providing an idea of how these falls appeared to visitors many years ago.

This is a moderate hike that includes several sections of rock stairs, covering about 2.5 miles with an elevation climb of approximately 300 feet.

What to Bring:

Please wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring sunscreen and bug spray as desired. Please note, you will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival. While dogs on leashes are usually permitted on the trails, for the comfort of all attendees, dogs are not allowed at this program.

Meandering through lush woodlands, the Brook Walk presents a moderate hike spanning approximately 1 mile, with an elevation climb of about 300′. Encounter nature’s wonders as you navigate through various terrains, including sections of rock stairs that add an element of excitement to the journey.

Exploring NH Trails: Hikers Club – Bald Knob via Turtleback Mountain Trail

Join Us for a Scenic Hike

  • Saturday, June 15
  • 8:00 AM-11:30 AM* (*actual end time may vary)

Location:

  • Meet at the Picnic Pavilions by Shannon Pond
  • Hiker parking available at the top of Ossipee Park Road, past Maple Lodge
  • Unpaved parking areas across from the pond and Café in the Clouds

Overview: Led by experienced volunteer hikers, the Hikers Club invites you to an exciting trek to Bald Knob via the Turtleback Mountain Trail. This moderate to difficult level hike spans approximately 7 miles and features an elevation climb of 750 feet. Registration is free but mandatory.

Preparation Tips:

  • Wear suitable footwear for hiking
  • Dress according to the weather conditions
  • Bring sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks for the journey
  • Sign a waiver upon arrival

Note: Dogs on leashes are typically allowed on trails but are not permitted during this program to ensure the comfort of all attendees.

Join us for a hike along the Faraway Mountain Connector Trail led by an experienced volunteer hiker. This moderate-level hike covers approximately 3.2 miles with an elevation climb of about 505 feet.

What to Bring:

  • Appropriate footwear for hiking
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Snacks as desired

  • A waiver will be required upon arrival.
