This competition will be open to students from Granite State FFA chapters and will be based on the Floral Arrangement activity from the National FFA Organization Floriculture Career Development Event.

Students will be given cut flowers and containers and will be assigned an arrangement type and retail price.  They will be given 30 minutes to select materials and create an arrangement within the given price range.  Judges from the floral industry will score results based on creativity, scale, balance and other design parameters, as well as on accuracy in accounting costs and prices.

New Hampshire 4-H Grill Master Cook-Off

Come join 4-Hers from across the state for a GRILL MASTER COOK-OFF competition! 4-Hers in all project areas are invited to compete in teams of 2 or 3 to create a dish that includes a meat (Beef, Pork, or Lamb), a starch, and vegetable in addition to a mystery item in 45 minutes. Each team will cook two portions of the food. The event will supply these items, but the teams are responsible for bringing any other additions. It is highly suggested that teams meet prior to the event to plan and practice their dish. All cooking must be done on a grill or electric skillet supplied by the team. Teams will have staggered start times that will be announced prior to competition. Register your 4H group to compete.

For youth participating in the NH 4-H Livestock Auction, appealing to buyers about your project is an important step in your marketing plan, and ultimately selling your animal. Kaylie Madore, Florida 4-H Alum and USDA Meat inspector, will be meeting with 4-H members prior to the contest to talk about the do’s and don’ts of writing a buyer letter, and the steps to take to connect with buyers. This workshop is open to all Grill Master Cook- Off participants, but is highly recommended for those consigning animals to an auction this fall.

The New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Growers Association (NHSWGA) is a non-profit agricultural organization established with a mission to teach sheep management skills, educate the public, and provide a forum for shepherds to meet and exchange ideas. The American Chestnut Foundation is committed to the successful reintroduction of a light resistant American Chestnut tree in the tree’s native range from Georgia to Maine.  The VT/NH Chapter is one of 16 regional groups collaborating with the national organization.  The chapters are all volunteers who commit time to field work in the two states.  This includes tracking and pollinating native American Chestnut trees, harvesting tree nuts annually, and establishing and managing orchards to perpetuate the genetic diversity of the species and to grow blight resistant hybrids.  Anyone can join us in this work!
