The
Stone House
The
Stone House at the Captain Lewis Residence offers
group indenpendent living for seniors in a gorgeous
Italianate Victorian home overlooking the Kennebec
River. This home was buty by the founder of the
Kennebec Steamship Company and is on the National
Register of Historic Places. The house is partially
furnished and features handsome marble fireplaces,
Victorian moldings, and perior wallpaper. In sum,
it is stunning. The Stone House is part
of a three building"senior community"
at the Captain Lewis Residence, an assisting
living residential care facility.
Four
to five seniors will be sharing the house. Each
will have their own second floor bedroom but will
shaare the many common areas as a group: three
living rooms/parlors, a den, a dining room, and
a kitchen. One meal perday, (nest door delivered0,
all utilities including local phone and cable
TV), housekeeping, 24 hour on call security, and
participation in a senior activities program next
door at the Captain Lewis Residence is
included in the rent. The monthly fees for
group indenpendent living at the Stone House start
at $750/person.
The
Stone House is currently under renovations. Rooms
should be available Late Fall, 2004.
