The vision of St. Clare Manor grew from the desire of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady to serve the elderly who were in need both physically and financially. St. Clare Manor opened as an extension of Ollie Steele Burden Manor in 1988 and began offering Medicaid certified nursing care, including a secure area for persons with dementia.
In January 2005, St. Clare Manor nearly doubled in size to meet the need for quality long term care in the community. The expansion features a neighborhood design with only 32 residents per neighborhood, a unique room layout providing greater privacy, and spacious common areas for dining, relaxing and visiting. The environment offers the appeal of assisted retirement living yet provides 24 hour licensed nursing care. Special care is also available through a new, secured neighborhood for persons in the early to mid stages of Alzheimer?s disease or a related dementia. Medicaid and private pay are accepted.
In September 2006, private suites became a new feature availalbe at St. Clare Manor. Private suites offer the privacy and comfort of home, while providing the 24 hour care of a nursing home. Please call (225) 216-3604 for more information or to schedule a tour.
