I am just about to go on six months of social securtiy disability and I had received a letter that there would be an evaluation after the six months that I have been declared disabled. I have recently found out by my doctors that this is a life tiime disability and this is how I live month to month. I need to know what the truth is in all of this because my mental health specialist has told me that the evalutions happen within two to three years. I have put in a lot of money to sociial security during the time that I was employed and I would like an idea of what I am facing. I will not survive after this month if I am unable to receive the benefits. Thank you.

Dear Jamie: Social Security puts a diary on most cases. It can be 3,5 or more years. I have never heard of a 6-month diary. Did you get the letter from SS? Is it a check up of your SSI? Ir you are getting SSI, the needs based program, they will check on your non-medical situation every year. It checks for money that you earned or inherited during the prior year. Let me know if it is a medical check or an SSI check. Carol
