Can I collect social security benefits on my ex-husband? We were married 20 years and I have not re-married.

Dear Barbara:
If you are 62 and have been married for more than 10 years you could be eligible.
You have an earnings cap that could reduce what SS can pay you. Your husband must be 62 or over. You must take your own benefits first and then have his added to your amt up to 1/2 of his FRA. SS can tell you what you could be eligible for.
Call the toll free number or your local office. 1-800-772-1213. Carol
