Dear Sue: The questions is do either of the parents receive SSDI? If they do, then the children may be eligible for benefits depending on the amount the parents would receive if they were not in prison. When a person is found disabled, any eligible children are usually put on their records. If a person hasn't worked long enough to get disability, (no earnings) then there would be no benefits for the children. The caretakers of these children should be calling SS and asking them if there are possible benefits. There are no SS benefits for children of prisoners just because they are children of prisoners.......Carol
