My mother is in a situation whereby she is now repeating herself frequently and now calls people who she has never met and claims that the individual has stolen items from her T.O. apartment. She has not left her apartment in more than 4 months. She will not even leave to see the doctor. My guess is that when a refill for one or more of her prescriptions needs to be refilled she will go to her T.O. at Kaiser. My 80 year old is not holding up well under these circumstances. He clearly appears to be in failing health and only leaves their apartment for groceries. Last year he drove the car a total of 3,500 miles. My mother hasn't driven in years. i would like to know what services are available. They are on a very limited social security income! chuck Severns

Dear Charles: Your parents might be interested in assisted living homes. You should look up in their area and see what is available. There is also a state department called Elderly Services which help protect the elderly. I know its hard with parents, but if you think they are unable to handle their SS checks, you should call SS and ask to be made your parents payee...... Carol
