Question: My wife just received notice that she won her disability case. My question is when will she be able to enroll in let say a Medicare plan like blue cross. I was wondering a she has a lot of prescriptions due her illness, an i currently pay her insurance coverage for her. Any help you can give me with an answer would be deeply appreciated.
Answer Medicare programs are difficult to explain. No one seems to give a clear answer. Medicare coverage starts with the 24th check. Since she just received a answer, it could be 6-8 weeks before she gets her award letter. When she does, go to the pharmacy that she uses and ask them what plan is the best for her. If your insurance completely covers her now, you might want to stay with that coverage because if might be cheaper. Good Luck.
