I am considering marrying a man on Disability and Medicare A and B. We are being told conflicting info on whether it will affect his benefits if we get married. I work full-time. What I am asking is: if we get married will he loose his Medicare A and B, also will it affect his Disability? Thank you for your information,

Dear Diana: If he is receiving ssdi, marrying will not affect his benefit amount. It will not affect his Part A and B of medicare either. However, he may go on your insurance and cancel his Part B of medicare and then go back on Part B if you should end the insurance coverage when you stop work. He has 7 months to re-enroll at no surcharge. If he is receiving SSI, which is a needs based welfare type program, then your earnings will affect his payment......Carol
