I am 61 years old and want to know if I can draw Social Security benefits off of my living husband. He is not retired or disabled and neither am I. Thank-You, Joyce W. Dear Joyce: I called and talked with your son-in-law. In short, I told him that you should probably file when you are 62 since you will probably be earning under the amount allowed by SS. Your husband has to be receiving for you to receive wives benefits, so when he files at 66 ( when he is eligible for his full rate and has no earnings limit) you will file for wife's benefits and SS will add that amount to what you are getting on your own.
