My husband was shot and killed we have been together for 4 years and i know i cant get any SS however he was the only one who worked and i was just wondering if there are any other widow programs for immediate help with the mortgage and other bills. There was no insurance at all and I haven't worked in 4 years. I have an 8 yr. old daughter that he has claimed for 3 years. I was just hoping that there is something. Im 30 yrs old so I don't know if there is any help for people in my situation. thank you!

Dear Sydne: Your daughter could be eligible for step-child benefits. If she is, then you would be eliogible for mothers benefits....You should call and find out at once. I would think the best thing for you to do is try to get benefits and find a part time job. Welfare is also eligible for people with children. Good luck.....Carol
